yesterday we were talking about this so thought I'd go find it on the bbc site. a businessman paid £32000 for a bottle of rare dalmore 62 single malt whisky at a hotel and ... get this, drank it that night. Apparently only 12 bottles of the whisky were ever made. Him and his friends finished nearly all the whisky - what amazed me was that you could pay that much for something, and then drink it! yeh i know, it's meant to be drunk, but .. well! Bit of an expensive bar tab that night ey, grin.

Yeah. I really doubt I'd pay that much for a drink, even if I were rich. It sounds like a pretty good amount of money just for a bottle of something that won't last long anyway. Now if the bottle itself were made of something real other than glass (like a precious gem or something) *smiles*, I might at least consider it.

I'd of loved to have been there and why shouldn't he please himself and his friends, if I had the cash ,I'd do the same..vintage single matl whisky is extremely expenisve a bottle of 25 yr old MacAllan can set you back £50 or more, but the taste improves and mellows with age, so by the time its 100 yrs old, the whisky is just to die for....I paid £75 for a bottle of 30 yr old MacAllan for Dad's 60th birthday, and he was stunned Dad,his brother Callum, Ally and I, drank 1/2 of it and he said when he died we could have the rest, the bottle is still 1/2 full.. we cant bring ourselves to finish it...

The most expensive whisky I've ever heard of is MacAllan 60yr old single malt, valued at £30,000, I wouldnt hesitate, and would invite everyone to taste the sublime nectar...
